Voted number one in the Times’ top 40 European Villas list, this attractive set of properties are certainly a popular choice with guests, who book well in advance. And it’s easy to see why. Located in one of the least discovered corners of the island, overlooking Kaminia Beach where the Caretta-Caretta sea turtles nest, these villas are a real find.

Caretta’s Nest is made up of three blocks comprising four one-bedroom and a couple of two bedroom apartments. Built on the side of a hill, these traditional Kefalonian-style properties have plenty of outside space for relaxation among the gardens that frame the large outdoor pool.

The apartments themselves are just as elegant as their whitewashed exteriors. Inside each, you’ll find an open-plan kitchen and living area with modern comforts including a double sofa bed and air-conditioning. While outside, a balcony or terrace serves up views of the sea or gardens.

Largely undiscovered by the tourist hordes, this secluded spot is perfect for those wishing to experience the traditional Kefalonian lifestyle. Head 3km to the quaint coastal village of Kato Katelios for a delicious fish dinner, or make the 10-minute car journey to Skala to explore its range of tavernas and shops.
