You’re guaranteed peace and quiet at this stone cottage. And along with solitude and privacy comes a picture-perfect setting. Reached along a rough track through the woods above the village of Coreglia Antelminelli, Casa Manu gazes out over the steep slopes of the Apuan Alps.

Casa Manu is not just one stone-built cottage but two neighbouring ones. The second houses a spacious double room that makes a perfect nook for any of the party looking for an extra touch of privacy.

Inside, it’s rustic, simple and comfy with wood-beamed ceilings in the bedrooms, heavy wooden furniture and wood or tiled floors. The sitting room is in the main cottage and has an open fireplace. And the large, well-equipped kitchen and dining room is here, too, with an open stairway leading up to the first-floor bedrooms.

And along with this unpretentiousness there’s the luxury of a good-sized private swimming pool. Bordered by lavender, it’s perched on a spacious grassy terrace with mountain views and plenty of space for sun-loungers. The patio, meanwhile, with its stone table is under the shade of an evergreen oak, so it’s just the place for whiling away long summer evenings with a barbecue.
