Levante Apartment details
The Apartment Del Levante deserves a gold star for its location. It’s on the seafront, and just minutes from the narrow streets, palazzos and historic monuments of Siracusa’s old town. Shops and restaurants are on your doorstep, too. Better still, you can open your balcony doors and look straight out over the Mediterranean.
The apartment itself is housed in a 16th-century Baroque building. Cue an exterior of creamy yellow walls, wood-shuttered windows and a wrought-iron balcony. Inside, though, the light and airy rooms have been refurbished in a modern style. On the ground floor, there’s a dining room with black lacquered tables, bistro chairs and chunks of strategically placed driftwood on the white walls. You’ll also find a small, well-equipped kitchen just off the dining space.
The monochrome look runs up into the first-floor sitting room. Here, plump sofas and black coffee tables combine with wooden floors. Two steps lead up to a small sea-facing balcony, so you can take in the sun and watch the comings and goings along the promenade.
The bedroom, meanwhile, is on the second floor. It’s dressed in the same contemporary décor as everywhere else, and comes with a comfy double bed and French doors that lead out to a sunny rooftop terrace.
