ABAMA Golf & Spa Resort details
Set on a clifftop among gardens and a golf course, the Abama Golf & Spa Resort is impressive from the start. From a distance, this grand terracotta-washed building has a palatial air to it. Move closer, and it has an almost jungle-like feel. Trailing vines cling to walkways and little wooden bridges weave between palms.
Inside, bedrooms are contemporary in style. Beds are big and well-dressed in cream and beige, with splashes of warmer colours. And they all come accessorised with in-room comforts like flatscreen satellite TVs and minibars. Plus, a private balcony or terrace is part of the set-up, too.
Outside, there’s a staggering seven swimming pools. They range from those with their own beaches to infinity pools surrounded by palms. A patchwork of terraces dotted with sunbeds and parasols completes the scene.
In terms of activities, this place comes with plenty. For pure, unadulterated ‘me’ time, there’s the spa. It’s been designed with an African theme, so expect rooms painted in earthy tones and trimmed with exotic touches like gold paintings. As well as a menu of beauty treatments, it features a Turkish bath, an African sauna and a snow cabin. More upbeat things to get involved in include the tennis academy, a gym and, of course, the hotel’s own 18-hole golf course and academy.
Lastly, there’s the dining scene. It’s a lavish ten-restaurant affair so there’s plenty to choose from. Breakfast is a buffet set-up with British and round-the-world favourites. Lunch and evening meals, meanwhile, are all à la carte. Japanese, Argentine and Italian are all on offer, with settings including lantern-lit terraces overlooking the sea.
