Serving up fantastic views and with a sandy cove almost all to itself, the Barcelo Hotel Ponent Playa has one of the best settings in Cala d’Or.

The Barcelo Hotel Ponent Playa offers great views over the beach. It’s right next to Cala Ferrara, one of Cala d’Or’s prettiest coves. Steps lead down to the sands and there’s a bar terrace with tables gazing over the water.

The swimming pool is at the back of the hotel, flanked by sunloungers and palms. And because the area around it isn’t built-up, the terraces have a spacious, open feel. Completing the scene is a bar, which serves snacks and a children’s menu.

Bedrooms are simple and spacious. To make the most of the scenery, you can opt for rooms with balconies or terraces overlooking Cala Ferrara.

On the food front, buffet meals are served in the mahogany-furnished restaurant. Expect a good mix of Mediterranean favourites at every meal.

When you want to go out, you’ll find a few bars, shops and restaurants nearby. Cala d’Or centre, meanwhile, is a 20-minute walk away.
