This place only opened its doors in 2008, so the décor has got a contemporary kick. Take the 28 bedrooms, for example. Funky feature walls in orange, purple or green have been teamed with chunky dark-wood furniture and bold, geometric rugs. Big sliding glass doors lead out to private sea-view patios. And trimmings come in the form of a flatscreen TV, fridge and in-room internet connection.

Outside, there’s a curvy swimming pool edged by a smart terrace. Just beyond that, well-kept lawns provide additional chill-out zones. Nearby there’s a rustic-looking stone bar serving up light bites and cocktails.

As for the hotel’s restaurant, it’s an elegant space dressed in muted greys and browns. Orange-seated chairs provide splashes of colour, while pinprick spotlights create a starry effect come nightfall. Food-wise, there’s a mix of Greek specialities and international favourites on the menu. Help yourself to coffee, platters of fruit and still-warm pastries for breakfast. Pick and choose from a mix of salads and meze-style dishes for lunch. And tuck into a buffet spread of fresh seafood, grilled meats and rice for dinner.

If you fancy venturing out for a meal, though, a five-minute walk will take you to central Potos. This idyllic fishing village is home to some great tavernas, where you can dig into specials like fresh calamari with lemon wedges and mayonnaise.
