On paper, the San Luis looks like it’s packed full of things to do. There’s a huge sports centre, a scuba diving school and two pools. And for a touch of adventure, you can sightsee the local area on a bike or head off on the island’s trails for a guided hike.

But there’s also plenty to help you kick back. A choice of pools means you can choose from the sweeping expanse of the main pool to a smaller heated number. Then there’s the spa in the S'algar hotel 200m away which offers a menu of holistic massages as well as a bubbling whirlpool bath, a heated indoor pool, a cleansing steam bath and a sauna.

The San Luis does well on the eating and drinking front, too. Two themed restaurants mean you won’t be eating the same buffet all week. From Italian pastas to a night in the Oriental Asia restaurant, they’ll keep your taste buds tantalised.

Design-wise, the hotel is a smart contemporary affair. In the spacious lobby, you’ll find burbling fountains, sheeted-glass lights and gleaming marble floors. When it comes to the bedrooms, they’re decorated in warm and welcoming tones. As for extras they include satellite TVs and air-conditioning.
