The Vila Gale Nautico has a great spot in Armacao de Pera. Just a couple of minutes’ walk from a long sandy beach and about ten from the town centre, it’s got the perfect pitch for a holiday where rest and relaxation are top of your ‘to do’ list. And, what’s more, it certainly lives up to its name. Whitewashed on the outside and sailor-shirt blue and white on the inside, it’s nautical to a ‘T’.

Bedrooms take the maritime theme to the next level. They’re whitewashed and accessorised with ship-themed artwork and porthole-style mirrors. Add extras like air-conditioning all year round and cable TVs and you’ve got a comfortable bolthole.

As for things to do, top billing goes to the huge swimming pool. Set into a big sun terrace in lawned gardens, it comes with plenty of sun loungers and parasols. And what with a pool bar and a kids’ pool out here too, it’s the ideal place to while away the hours.

Pools aside, there are plenty of other winning factors, like the entertainment, for instance. Expect things like an aquagym and games during the day and bingo and shows in the evening. What's more there's a health club where you’ll find a Turkish bath, an indoor pool and a whirlpool bath. Kids, meanwhile, get a hotel-run club.
