The word ‘luxury’ is synonymous with the Ionian Emerald. This place earns 5 stars for its beachfront setting, sea views and stylish pool scene.

The Ionian Emerald is tucked among hills and gardens in the Kefalonia countryside, so the surroundings are really peaceful. If that wasn’t enough, the hotel also looks out over the Ionian Sea, and it’s just a few steps from a pretty, pebbly beach.

You’ll find a swimming pool in the centre of the complex, set in a big sunny terrace. Stylish rattan daybeds are lined up along the water’s edge, and they’re shaded by four-poster frames draped in white muslin. If you want to duck out of the sun for a bit, there’s a spa, where you can enjoy massage treatments and manicures.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the hotel’s buffet restaurant, where the chefs dish out Mediterranean food. In the evenings, you can dine on a candlelit outdoor terrace which looks out over Sami Town. Talking of which, the centre is a 20-minute walk along the waterfront when you fancy eating out.
