Komandoo Maldives Island Resort details
“White-sand beaches, exotic marine life, and secluded villas – the Komandoo Island Resort is like a little slice of paradise.”
This place is perched on an island in the Lhaviyani Atoll – one of the smallest atolls in the Maldives – so it’s got a real castaway vibe. Better still, the scenery is as tropical as it gets – expect exotic flowers, swaying palms and a chalk-white ribbon of sand circling the whole isle.
In terms of things to do, the focus is on relaxation. There’s no swimming pool, but you’re surrounded by clear turquoise waters, and there are loungers outside the villas. Elsewhere, you’ll find a spa where you can choose from signature treatments, like the cocoa butter body massage or the minty foot and leg soother.
If you want to up the pace, things like beach volleyball, dart tournaments and giant chess matches are laid on throughout the day. What’s more, this is one of the best spots in the Maldives for diving. There are over 40 sites nearby, so head out and you’re likely to spot stingrays, turtles and black-tipped sharks.
On the dining front, there are two restaurants to choose from. The main one, Falhu, serves up buffet spreads with a different theme every night, such as Indian, Chinese and European. Aqua, meanwhile, is an à la carte joint set on stilts over the water. Here, net-fresh fish dishes come with a side-order of sea views.
Lastly, there’s the accommodation to consider. The villas here are textbook Maldives, with their thatched roofs and wooden interiors. They come with all the basics, too, like air-conditioning, hairdryers and satellite TVs. Plus, special extras come in the form of iPod docking stations and minibars. Opt for a Jacuzzi Water Villa, and you’ll be able to step out of your door, straight into the deep blue.
