Location-wise, this hotel couldn’t be more central. You’re just five minutes from the beach, the bars and also the train station, which makes exploring Spain’s coolest city, Barcelona, a breeze. Plus, it’s just a short walk to the harbour and Sitges main gay district. From lazy sunset cocktails on the terraces that line the shorefront here, to all-night foam parties at Organic or Trailer – two of the most popular clubs in the area – it’s the place to see and be seen. And, when you’re looking to relax on the sand the morning after, La Platja de la Bossa Rodona isn’t far either. As the main gay beach, it’s got a really laidback vibe, and the Picnic Restaurant there does a great line in fresh seafood.

As for the hotel itself, it’s set in a renovated five-storey house from the turn of the 20th century, so it exudes classic style with a contemporary edge. Décor-wise, rooms come cosily dressed in warm neutrals, while French windows and soft muslin curtains create an airy feel. In-room trimmings like DVD players, Hi-Fis and satellite TVs come as standard – there’s even a well-stocked DVD library in the hotel if you fancy renting a movie. Rooms either overlook the lush back garden or face out onto the town. But bear in mind city-side rooms come triple-glazed, so you’re guaranteed a peaceful night’s sleep wherever you stay.

Outside, the garden is a real oasis of green – all shady tropical trees and slatted wooden furniture, a perfect spot to enjoy the al fresco breakfast buffet. It’s served from 9.30am until noon, so you don’t have to be an early-riser to enjoy this Continental spread. Tuck into croissants, just-baked organic breads, Spanish hams and cheeses, freshly-brewed coffee and a selection of juices. Or, for an added touch of romance, you could even book an in-room champagne breakfast.

Finally, there’s the Liberty Bar. This place opens from 7pm until 10pm every evening, so it’s an ideal spot to kick off your night out or enjoy a cocktail before dinner.
