Perched on a cliff-top, the Rocamar has a front row seat on the coast. The views over the beach and sea don’t need a sales pitch, they’re breathtaking. And that’s not all. Directly outside the whitewashed hotel you’ve got a promenade hemmed with cafés and restaurants. Plus it’s just a short stroll into Albufeira’s old town.

Inside, it’s all very calm and minimalist with walls and furnishings dressed in crème-caramel, vanilla and white. Take the lounge bar. White polished floors and trendy angular sofas and footstools bring a very modern, Manhattan-esque feel to the place. It’s the same in the a la carte restaurant, which has monochrome high-back chairs. The cool blue bedrooms follow suit too, accessorised with stripy cushions and a reading chair.

Probably the most coveted place in the Rocamar is the rooftop terrace. Jutting out over the cliff edge, this is where you’ll find the infinity pool. Granted, it’s not a huge space up here, but it’s peaceful and the views more than make up for its size. It’s also dotted with sun loungers and parasols. If the beach is more to your liking though, there’s a sweep of steps down to the sands just outside the hotel.
