Villa Maria is a peaceful, family-run retreat, tucked away among sweet-smelling gardens and Troulos’ rolling hills.

Villa Maria is set in a quiet part of Troulos. It’s cocooned by gardens filled with trees and plant pots, and overlooked by pine-cloaked hills. The property is about a 15-minute walk from the town centre, and a 25-minute stroll from the beach, so you’re not in the thick of everything – but the place is all the more peaceful for it.

The hotel is characteristically Greek, with its whitewashed walls, terracotta rooftops and surrounding greenery. In the heart of the grounds, on a little raised terrace, you’ll find the swimming pool. It comes with a separate section for children, plus a neighbouring bar that offers al fresco seating under the shade of ivory parasols.

The studios are quaint and traditional, with white walls and simple wooden furniture. Each one comes with a well-equipped kitchenette and a balcony that looks out over the gardens and the countryside.

Studios sleep 2 or 3 people, are twin bedded - extra beds are camp beds or similar - and have kitchenette with 2 cooking rings, toaster, kettle, fridge, air-conditioning at a charge, satelllite TV with limited channels, shower and balcony or terrace. Cots are available but may reduce the number of people who fit in a room. Daily maid service, towels and linen changed twice weekly.
