Villa Penelope details
The first thing you can’t fail to notice about Villa Penelope is its hillside setting, roughly two kilometres from the centre of Fiskardo. In fact, from its lofty position, the views across the sea to Ithaca, Lefkas and the mainland are absolutely fabulous.
The villa itself, although detached, is divided into two self-contained apartments that share a swimming pool and garden. And while the simple peach-and-blue exterior might not be the typical whitewashed Greek style, it’s still very pretty.
Inside, the artist owner has laid down distinctive and colourful clay floor tiles on the terrace and in the living room, depicting Kefalonian scenes and buildings. The ground floor apartment has a spacious terrace, while the upper floor apartment benefits from attractive sloping ceilings.
When it comes to getting out and about, one of Fiskardo's loveliest coves, Foki Beach, is just an 800-metre walk downhill along the small coastal road, running close to the villa. It’s also in Fiskardo that you’ll find all the nearest restaurants and bars. And for those of you who’d rather not walk, it’s about a five-minute drive away.
