Sugar-cube apartments, a huge lake-like pool and a plum location close to the centre of Cala’n Forcat – the Vista Picas Apartments are a great holiday base.

There’s nothing more quintessentially Menorcan than whitewashed houses crowned with terracotta roofs, and that’s exactly what you get here. They’re arranged in a crescent overlooking a curvy pool. Sunbeds and parasols are dotted around in clusters and little lawns skirt the edges.

The accommodation itself is a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments. Looks-wise, white walls and tiled floors are the staples, with chunky pine furniture and simple framed artwork providing the finishing touches. And whichever type you go for, you’ll get a kitchenette and a balcony or a terrace as standard. What’s more, there’s a supermarket over the road so stocking up on essentials is easy.

In terms of entertainment, this place doesn’t really go over the top. Live music and dance shows are occasionally on the menu in the evenings, but other than that you’re pretty much left to your own devices. Which is fine, seeing as the location of these apartments makes getting out and about simple. The resort centre is only a couple of minutes’ walk away, while Cala’n Forcat’s sandy beach is a ten-minute stroll.
