With a matter of metres between the beach and the swimming pool, Zakantha Beach Hotel makes sunbathing a top priority.

The Zakantha Beach Hotel gets full marks for location. The property is set on the edge of Argassi Bay, and it’s hard to work out where the hotel ends and the beach begins. What’s more, it’s just a 15-minute walk to the centre of Argassi, where you’ll find a selection of restaurants and bars.

In terms of facilities, the hotel’s swimming pool is spacious and there’s a separate children’s pool, so little ones can splash around without disturbing older swimmers. There’s plenty of sunbathing space here, too – choose a sunlounger by the pool or spread out in the shade of a palm tree in the garden.

When it comes to food, the hotel puts on a continental breakfast of cold meats, pastries, eggs and juice. The pool bar serves snacks, as well, and the menu ranges from home-cooked Greek dishes to lighter bites like jacket potatoes and toasties.
