Villa Muranco is set off the tourist trail and part of a secluded collection of houses hidden in thick forest. Outside there’s a large terrace with a cushioned seating area for al fresco dining. There’s also a rectangular pool and well-established gardens.

Inside, the ground floor living area is spacious and its thick stone walls keep it cool during the midsummer heat. The handsome stone cottage has wooden floors, beamed ceilings and is decorated in shades of chocolate, cream and raspberry. Overlooking the lounge is a galleried landing which runs around two sides of the upper floor. The four bedrooms are spread across the three levels of the house with the top floor’s cute attic room a firm favourite.

For an interesting day trip, head to nearby Mumcular’s Sunday street market, or explore some of the coast’s quiet beaches, which are a 15-kilometre drive away.
