Set on the quiet shores of the South Male Atoll, this away-from-it-all hotel is something of an expert when it comes to views. Look in one direction and you’ll be greeted by bright blue waters and a long belt of white sand. Turn around and the scene is all tall palms and lush mangroves.

The hotel’s rooms have been designed with the surroundings in mind. They’re just metres from the sea, and all of them come with balconies or terraces. Inside, the white and blue colour scheme reminds you of the sand and sea on your doorstep. The comfort-factor is raised by the air-conditioning, which comes as standard. And some rooms feature flatscreen TVs.

Elsewhere, you’ll find a large buffet restaurant offering up a great spread of international favourites. There’s a coffee shop, too, which serves drinks and snacks around the clock. For after-dinner drinks, meanwhile, you’ve got two bars to choose from.

When it comes to watersports, meanwhile, it’d be quicker to list what this place doesn’t have. As well as favourites like water-skiing and windsurfing, you can try your hand at things like canoeing and snorkelling. The hotel even has its own dive school, which runs PADI courses for beginners.

Finally, if a bit of pampering is in order, head to the spa. Offering up a good selection of traditional Indian head and body massages, it’s the ideal relaxation spot.
