This is one good-looking hotel. It’s been designed in the Dutch colonial style, so expect gable fronts and white-framed picture windows. Its bright paintwork gives it a decidedly tropical feel, too.
As for the bedrooms, they’re rather smart. Think whitewashed walls, vaulted ceilings, and solid dark-wood furniture. Each room has a kitchenette featuring everything you need, whether you’re making a coffee or a Caribbean feast.
However, if your kitchen mantra is ‘look but don’t touch’ the hotel is well prepared. Open-air Mango’s is the main restaurant. Pull up a seat here for a hearty American-style breakfast buffet, or choose from the à la carte lunch and dinner menu. As the name suggests, Passions has a one-track mind, fixed firmly on romance. It’s set on the beach, so you can dine at white linen tables with the sand between your toes. Torches are dotted around, and the soundtrack comes courtesy of the sea.
As for the beach, it’s all white sand and turquoise waters. The hotel is literally a stone’s throw away from the shore, so you can be barefoot and bronzing in seconds. Or you can chill out by the pool in the courtyard if you prefer. And when you’ve had your fill of the sun, head up to the Sunset Bar for a cocktail. Overlooking the pool and beach, it’s a great spot for a sundowner.
One last thing – there’s a warm welcome to be had here, too. The hotel has been run by the same family since it opened 20 years ago.
