Anassa Resort details
Perched on rolling hills that drop down to Anassa beach, this hotel edges Cyprus’ unspoilt Akamas Peninsula. There’s little else in the immediate vicinity either, so it’s really peaceful. That said the little town of Polis and fishing village of Latchi are within striking distance – just five and two kilometres away respectively.
As you’d expect, the hotel makes the most of its surroundings. Arranged in whitewashed Mediterranean villas, its tiered terraces stop to offer spectacular views before spilling down to sunbathing lawns and the sea. The beach is lovely, too, dotted with wooden sunloungers and canvas parasols.
In terms of décor, the hotel’s kept things understated. Take the lobby. It focuses on an impressive arched atrium and marble staircase set under a blue dome. Similarly, the rooms are all Mediterranean elegance. Think a classic cream colour palette accented by wrought-iron floor lamps, rattan sofas and pretty balconies.
The jewels in the crown here though are the pools. Topping them is an infinity number where you can really believe you’re swimming out to sea. And when some serious relaxation is in order, the Thalasso Spa is a must.
The culinary scene here warrants a special mention, too. With its snacks and show kitchen, the Pelagos has a casual atmosphere perfect for poolside meals. Down on the beach meanwhile, you’ve got twice-weekly barbecues in summer, complete with bouzouki music. Add the a la carte Cypriot cuisine served at the Basiliko and the classic Mediterranean cooking of the Helios and foodies will be in their element here.
