Tropical jungle surroundings and a restaurant adorned with sombreros – El Tukan Hotel stays true to its Mexican roots.

El Tukan Hotel is on 5^th Avenue, the main road in Playa del Carmen. You’ve got shops, restaurants and bars all around you, and the town’s white-sand beach is just a 10-minute walk – or a free shuttle bus ride – away.

The hotel may be on one of the town’s busiest roads, but a cocoon of tropical greenery keeps it feeling secluded. In the middle of the palms there’s a good-sized pool. You’ll also find a whirlpool bath hidden among the fauna.

You've got lots of choice when it comes to dining. La Ceiba puts on international buffet spreads against a backdrop of toucan statues, while Los Tulipanes offers a Mexican menu under a thatched roof. The Legends Sports Bar & Grill, meanwhile, churns out ice-cold pints and barbecue platters under 8 huge TV screens. Upgrade to All Inclusive, and you’ll also be able to dine for free at some of the restaurants on 5^th Avenue.
