Amalfi has a small beach but there are several bathing areas where sun beds and towels can be hired and a walk around the headland to Atrani offers a second option of a less crowded beach. You will never tire of admiring the charms of Amalfi; a stroll up the valley through lemon groves or visits to the local old paper mills contrast with steep mountainside walks that will challenge the keenest hiker. The choice of excursions is superb; take a boat to either of the neighbouring islands of Capri or Ischia, or a coach tour to Pompeii or bus ride to Positano.
