With its spa, gardens and a beach close by, this modern retreat pulls out all the stops when it comes to relaxation.

Top marks have to go to the spa and wellness centre. With its earthy mosaic tiles and graceful Roman statuettes, it’s something of a pampering palace. Cue tingling essential oil showers, Turkish baths and an ice cave. For more by way of luxury, there’s an indoor pool, too, complete with skylights and half-submerged loungers.

In fact, everywhere you go here there’s a real emphasis on relaxation. Step outside and you’re greeted by a lagoon pool where you can swim around palm-planted islands and ornamental waterfalls. Having said that, it's not all just for adults - the hotel has a cute Splash Park for the young ones.

Inside, meanwhile, the hotel is bright and fresh and uses pale-wood furnishings to good effect. The simple bedrooms, dressed in simple tones of magnolia and russed shades, feature all the usual in-room extras such as satellite TVs, air-conditioning and good-sized balconies.

On the food front, the buffet restaurant serves up a huge selection of dishes at every meal, including a healthy option menu. There’s also a rooftop bar where you can gaze out over Ca’n Picafort’s pan-tiled houses to the mountains and sea beyond.

Talking of the Med, it’s more or less on your doorstep. The sandy beach is just across a main road. The same pretty much goes for C’an Picafort itself. The hotel’s central position means you’re only 200 metres or so from its shops, bars and restaurants, so you can walk into town as and when.
