The Hotel Graal sits on a hillside in Ravello high above the coast, so it serves up breathtaking views over the Gulf of Salerno below. Plus, the location is good on an exploring count. You’re a five-minute walk from the main piazza at Ravello and a few minutes from bus stops running services to towns like Positano and Amalfi.

Back at base, relaxation is top of the agenda, thanks to the swimming pool. Set to the side of the hotel, it’s flanked by terraces that seem to hover over the hillsides and sea. The rooms here all have bird’s-eye-view balconies, too.

As for food, the property has two restaurants – a main one with picture windows overlooking the sea and an à la carte with a romantic, sea-facing terrace. Lunch, dinner and breakfast are served in the main restaurant on the second floor, with authentic Italian dishes, like lobster pasta, taking starring roles.
