From its hillside perch, this hotel enjoys unbroken views across Samos Bay. And the outlook has certainly been put to good use. Take the restaurant’s vine-covered veranda, for instance. It’s in a prime spot for horizon-gazing, making mealtimes a real occasion.

As for the accommodation itself, it’s set back from the pool in a series of villa-style buildings. On the outside, buttermilk walls sport chunky wooden shutters. Inside, bedrooms are dressed in pastel tones and come with carved wooden furniture. You’ll get a private balcony, too, and it’s worth choosing a sea-view room for the sunsets – the hotel faces west, so you’ll have a grandstand seat.

When it comes to food, the emphasis is on locally-sourced produce and homemade Greek dishes. Breakfasts are a simple Continental affair, but things get a little more exciting later in the day. Expect staples like Greek salads bursting with feta and olives, fresh fish and meze-style dishes. And the tipples on the wine list have been cherry-picked to complement the cuisine.

Beyond the hotel, Samos Town is just a 15-minute walk away. Because the Ino Village is set on a hillside, the climb back up requires a little more puff, but taxis are really reasonably priced if you don’t fancy the walk.
