Hotel Ionia details
About a 5-minute walk from Skopelos Town’s harbour, this little family-run place is in a great spot. It’s tucked into a quiet hillside but close enough to the action to feel quite central. You can easily get to shops, bars and restaurants on foot. But because it’s not right in the heart of town, it’s got a really chilled out vibe. You’re not too far from the sands either. Pristine St Peter’s Beach is about a 30-minute walk away, or you could hire a car and be there in minutes.
The hotel itself is a traditional Greek number. Think whitewashed apartments centred round a pretty flower-dotted terrace. There’s a decent-sized pool, too, bordered by a roomy sun terrace.
Inside, the rooms are pretty spacious. Neutral décor and tiled floors come as standard. And paintings depicting typically Greek scenes add splashes of colour. Each one comes with a balcony, too.
On the food front, the Ionia serves up breakfast buffets with everything from natural yoghurt and fresh fruit, to ham, cheese and just-baked bread on the menu. And come the evening, you’re just a short stroll from the local tavernas – fantastic for fresh seafood and authentic Greek meze.
