Intercontinental The Palace Port Ghalib Resort details
Palace by name, palace by nature. This elegant property combines style and luxury with first-class facilities.
With its sandy stone walls, extensive gardens and extravagant water features, this aptly-named hotel could easily be mistaken for a Moorish palace. As you walk through its doors, you’ll be greeted by a ballroom-sized lobby, complete with gleaming marble floors and traditional touches like wooden balconies and a stained-glass window.
As for the bedrooms, they’re a lot more contemporary. Decked out in a palette of cream, navy and scarlet, they exude style and sophistication. In-room comforts come in the form of air-conditioning and satellite TVs, while glass balcony doors take up the whole wall, meaning great views are always on show.
Outside, things are just as smart. The star of the show is the gigantic swimming pool. Surrounded by a scattering of palms and cushioned loungers, it gives way to gorgeous landscaped gardens. You’ll find flood-lit tennis courts around the corner, too.
If you prefer the beach to the pool though, you’re in luck – the hotel is on the Red Sea’s doorstep. And because it has its own diving school, it’s really easy to explore the famous underwater world. You can also try your hand at other watersports.
Last but not least, dining is one of the hotel’s biggest draws. In the evenings, The Olive Restaurant serves a medley of Mediterranean and Arabic dishes, while Budour’s Court offers up a banquet of Lebanese favourites like hot and cold Mezzah and BBQ. For lunch, meanwhile, head to the Pool Deck to choose from the light à la carte menu. And in the mornings, tuck into a spread of omelettes, fresh fruit and pastries at The Olive.
