Hugging a dreamy beach, this hotel has plenty of contemporary swagger.

This hotel is in a plum spot - Playa d'en Bossa’s sugar-soft beach is on the doorstep. Plus, it’s just a kilometre or so from the centre and the nearest shops and restaurants are a mere five minutes away.

The hotel’s looks deserve a double take, too. Its striking exterior gives way to a lobby that’s as cool as they come. Think voile drapes, crisp white walls and wicker sofas perched on funky rugs. On the bedroom front, the hotel has continued down the contemporary-chic route. You’ve got warm red-and-cream colour schemes and oversized beds. All on top of satellite TVs, balconies and an extra touch of luxury - whirlpool baths.

Outdoors, things are equally impressive. There are two pools to choose from, each encircled by smart wooden sunloungers, white canvas parasols and palms. One’s got a children’s pool so the little ones can have their fun, too.

Restaurant-wise, there’s the bright and breezy La Sal serving generous buffet meals. Dinners are particularly good with chefs ready to cook your meat and fish to order. And if you want to go gourmet, there are two à la carte restaurants for evening dining to choose from, Mediterranean and Tex Mex. During the day, for continental breakfast and snacks, head down to Portofino's beach bar which sits right on the sands.
