A beachfront location, ultra-modern décor and a stylish pool scene – that’s the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel in a nutshell.

The spotlight at this place falls on the pool scene. All smooth wooden decking, sky-high palms, and Balinese beds with cascading muslin curtains, it’s seriously plush. There are two swimming pools out here – the first takes centre-stage on the wooden terrace, while the other snakes its way through the hotel’s grounds and gardens. Factor in a poolside massage and waiter service, and you’ve got an A-list set-up.

Looks-wise, the hotel goes down the minimalist route. The bedrooms, for example, are really cutting edge. They’re dressed completely in white, with sleek wooden panelling lining the back wall and a section of the floor. Beds are only slightly raised off the floor, and clever lighting creates a soft glow underneath them. Funky sculptures and light bulb-dotted mirrors, meanwhile, give things a futuristic vibe.

When it comes to food and drink, you’re spoilt for choice. First off, there’s a Mediterranean joint on the beach. This place is home to a big wine cellar, and serves up meat and fish dishes with a side-order of sea views. Elsewhere, you’ve got a grill eatery – the menu features meat, fish, lobster and fresh salads. The real showpiece, though, is the Japanese sushi and Teppanyaki restaurant. All candlelight, traditional art and floor-to-ceiling bamboo shoots, it’s like a completely different world. You can choose to eat inside, or out in the tranquil Zen gardens.

Last but not least, expect plenty in the way of entertainment here. Pool parties, beach soirees, fashion shows and even art exhibitions all make the cut. And that’s not forgetting the big-name DJs that provide the soundtrack to it all in the summer months. Luciano and Fatboy Slim will be performing at the 2012 opening weekend on 26th-27th May. You’ve also got several bars scattered around the grounds, offering up lengthy cocktail and smoothie menus. Accordingly, this hotel is suitable for adults and does not accept bookings for anyone younger than 18.
