The Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Gold Resort and Spa makes an impression the moment you walk in the door. The hotel, which is just across the road from the beach, has been designed in the style of grand Victorian Thailand, so the place is studded with teak floors, regency lampshades and colonial-style furniture.

The swimming pool demands your attention, too. Spreading out for 7000 square metres, it’s the largest in Thailand. The whole space is surrounded by manicured gardens and wooden decking topped with stylish sunloungers. Then there’s the spa, where you can indulge in authentic massages and herbal baths.

Four restaurants contribute to the hotel’s stand-out dining scene. In the evenings a seafood barbecue gets fired up by the pool, stonebaked pizzas are served fresh from the kiln in the Italian, and typical Asian cuisine is served to diners sat at traditional Thai tables in the White Lotus.
