The Old Vineyard is all about traditional charm in a pretty woodland setting. The property, with its green shutters, is typically Greek. The front entrance has a wide veranda scattered with outdoor furniture and the garden has its share of silver-leaved olive trees.

Inside, The Old Vineyard has got all the basics covered. There are cool stone floors, beamed ceilings and cream walls. The villa’s wooden furniture in the air-conditioned double bedroom and the open-plan living area mixes traditional furnishings with Seventies’ styling. And the kitchen’s got all the important appliances – oven, hob and fridge/freezer – and the lounge area has a sofa bed for one and a TV.

Outside, you can cool off in the private pool or warm up under the Mediterranean sun on one of the sunbeds. For a change of scene, head to the fishing village of Loggos, a kilometre away, to pick up necessities from the bakery and mini-markets or eat like a local at one of its tavernas. Alternatively, the port town of Gaios is a 10-minute drive, and there are plenty of beach options at Levekio, Mamari and Kipiardi.
