Villa Martha’s hillside spot gives you a birds-eye view of the unhurried pace of life in the small fishing village of Loggos. Set up for relaxation, Villa Martha has a no-nonsense, uncluttered feel. The white-washed interior is simple yet comfy and the two upstairs bedrooms provide a retreat from family life.

Your days at this terracotta-coloured, Rubicks-cube shaped home can be spent enjoying a leisurely breakfast on your terrace or cooling off in your private pool. Upstairs there are two airy bedrooms, each with timber floors, and you can take your pick of the wrought-iron double bed or single twin beds for your afternoon siesta. Downstairs the open-plan living area features a practical kitchen, a fireplace and is furnished simply with pine furniture and it all opens up onto the balcony. The villa’s terrace has plenty of room and is perfect for al fresco dining – just put up the umbrella for a little shade.

It’s only a 10-minute walk down the rustic donkey track - right next to the villa – to Loggos. Foodies will be torn whether to go Greek in the villa’s practical kitchen or taste the dishes mamma makes in one of Loggos’s tavernas. A steep trek to a windmill ruin overlooking the harbour will help wear-off excess moussaka and treat the soul to views of the east coast of Paxos, mainland Greece and even Corfu. Outside Loggos, meanwhile, the olive press museum offers another taste of village life.
