Approached past orange and avocado trees along the driveway, Villa Daniella sets the standard early on. Once inside, it doesn’t disappoint. The rooms are spacious, light and attractive, furnished in a traditional Majorcan style. The fully-fitted kitchen has its own eating area and leads into a comfortable lounge, which has satellite TV and air-conditioning. There’s a shower room and WC downstairs, too, while all four bedrooms – two double and two twins – are upstairs, along with two more bathrooms.

Mind you, lovely though inside is, chances are you’ll want to spend most your time outdoors. The cleverly designed exterior is certainly unusual, but in having the swimming pool and its surrounding sun terrace up on the first floor, you’re able to really absorb the views. These span over the surrounding countryside, all the way across to the mountains in the distance.

But the pool isn’t the only attraction up here. There’s also an excellent covered barbecue area as well. In fact, with a sink and fridge, it’s more like a second kitchen. And, with a table and plenty of chairs, poolside lunches and balmy evening barbecues are a doddle. Just as importantly, the pool area can be secured off, so it’s perfect for families with small children.
