The Grand Bahia Principe Akumal is right on the edge of a 1.5-kilometre runway of soft white sand. When you’re not dozing on the sunloungers or sipping drinks from the beach bar here, you can be kayaking, windsurfing or using jet skis in the sea. The hotel’s facilities amass away from the shore. There are 2 swimming pools to choose from, one of which rolls out like a lazy river. There’s a spa next to the beach, where you can get treatments like curing mud massages. All rooms are bright and traditionally decorated and come with air-conditioning, ceiling fan, TV, phone, hairdryer, iron and board on request, coffee facilities, alarm clock, minibar restocked every other day with beer, water and soft drinks and balcony or terrace. Double rooms sleep up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children with 1 king-size, twin or 2 double beds.

Junior suites sleep up to 3 adults and 1 child or 2 adults and 2 children with facilities as Double rooms, plus a sitting area with sofa and small bath with water jets.
