Set in well-tended gardens, this hotel in Hivernage has an away-from-it-all feel, yet it’s within walking distance of Marrakech’s UNESCO-listed medina.

This rose-red-painted hotel is in Hivernage – a fashionable district in the modern part of Marrakech. You’re not too far from the historical medina, though. The souks and stalls around Jemaa el-Fna are around 20 minutes’ walk away, or 5 minutes by taxi.

It’s set in lush gardens, with leafy palms and flower-filled terracotta pots, so there’s a real oasis feel. At the centre, you’ll find the large pool, bordered by a sun terrace. To one side, there’s a shady pergola – it’s where you’ll find the pool bar and a Mediterranean restaurant.

There are a couple more eating spots inside. The Orangery is a buffet venue, while waiters in the beautifully decorated Oriental Restaurant serve slow-cooked tagines and spiced couscous to an accompaniment of traditional Gnawa music.

As for the rooms, they’re spacious and contemporary, with cream colour schemes livened up with splashes of crimson. Each one comes with extras like air-con and satellite TV, too.
