The Pela Hotel and Studios is a real home-from-home. There are only 46 rooms, so the atmosphere is friendly and intimate. Plus the owners have gone all out to provide some nice creature comforts. Take the lounge, for instance. With little tables, wooden chairs and even a fireplace, it’s a good place to unwind. A cluster of tables and a well-stocked bar, meanwhile, provide the setting for relaxed dinners inside or out.

The bedrooms follow suit. Décor-wise, they’re typically Greek – think whitewashed walls and fuss-free wooden furniture. Simple soft furnishings inject a homely touch, while in-room comforts come in the form of TVs, fridges and telephones. All the rooms have balconies or terraces, too, which showcase the hotel’s grounds beautifully.

Outside, meanwhile, an oversized swimming pool is bordered by a stone terrace. Loungers and umbrellas provide great sunbathing spots, while the dinky snack bar is on hand for drinks and snacks. Elsewhere, grassy lawns are studded with trees and flower pots, giving the whole place a traditional vibe.

Last but not least, the hotel is only a few minutes from the centre of Skala Kalloni. So not only have you got the beach on your doorstep, but there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, too.
