When it comes to rustic charm, this place does it with aplomb. It’s actually an old converted cottage, so expect traditional whitewashed walls and a higgledy-piggledy terracotta tiled roof. Then there’s the location. It’s tucked away in its own gardens, cocooned by climbing bougainvillea and almond trees. And because it’s set on a hillside, you can see right across the valley and down to the coast. Plus, you’re just a 10-minute walk from the heart of Boliqueime, a traditional Algarvian village with shops and tavernas. And when you want to hit the beach, Vilamoura is only fifteen minutes away by car.

Head inside, meanwhile, and the villa’s authentic Portuguese feel continues. We’re talking exposed beams, walls with traditional tiles and fired-brick flooring. Contemporary furnishings and satellite TV add a modern zip.

Head upstairs and you’ll find the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. This place easily sleeps five. Decor-wise, all the bedrooms are simply dressed.

The pool, meanwhile, is framed by an enclosed sun terrace. There’s a covered dining area with a built-in barbecue – ideal for lazy al fresco meals with the family.
