This historical villa-style hotel is nestled deep in the heart of the Tuscan countryside and the best views are from the pool.

Set in the countryside, 2 kilometres from the village of Castel San Gimignano, Villa Dini is surrounded by watercolour-worthy scenery. From the hotel’s front lawn you can see fields of honey-coloured wheat, woods of cigar-shaped cypress trees, and olive groves.

The foundations for the villa were laid in the 18th century and, 200 years later, the building has retained much of its original architectural style. Outside, there are exposed stone walls, arched entranceways and shallow tiled roofing. Inside, the bedrooms and apartments combine beamed ceilings and tiled floors with a burnt umber colour scheme.

The swimming pool is set on a terrace overlooking the Tuscan landscape. It’s surrounded by a tiled suntrap, which has sunloungers with sunshades attached. Terracotta pots filled with shrubs complete the rustic look.

The property has a restaurant within its grounds, which is less than a 10-minute walk from the main bedrooms and apartments. La Locanda del Borgo is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All dishes are made using local produce and the menus showcase local cuisine. Pasta is made fresh every day and used to make ravioli and lasagne, and once a week, pizza is prepared in the estate’s wood oven.
