This hotel has a second-to-none setting, on a clifftop above Praia Dona Ana beach. It’s only a short walk to the centre of Lagos, too.

The Carvi Beach Hotel is parked above the blonde sands and honey-coloured cliffs of Praia Dona Ana beach. There are steps just next to the hotel leading down to it, so you can be on the sand in 2 minutes. A 10-minute walk will bring you to Lagos’ centre and historical old town, while a 5-minute drive will put you at the marina.

The best views of the beach and coastline come from the rooftop terrace. It’s where you’ll find the pool – a rectangular number – and a small sun terrace. Continental breakfasts of breads, cereals, fruit, meats and cheeses are laid out up here, and there’s a bar that serves lunches and snacks like salads, soup and sandwiches.

As for the rooms, they’ve recently had makeovers, so you can expect bright, minimalist interiors with added touches like rain showers, blackout drapes and flatscreen TVs.
