Marina Rio details
For a small adult-focused property, the Marina Rio doesn’t scrimp on style or comfort. In fact, the whole place has recently been given a facelift, putting it on a par with the area’s best boutique hotels. In the lobby, black and white leather sofas cluster around glass tables and polka dot rugs, while lime green curtains frame the supersized windows.
And it’s more of the same in the bedrooms. Simple cream walls and tiled floors provide a smart canvas, while colourful soft furnishings brighten things up. In terms of mod-cons, air-conditioning and satellite TVs come as standard. Plus all the rooms have spacious balconies with tables and chairs.
Outside, the rooftop swimming pool takes centre-stage. It isn’t huge, but views over Lagos town more than make up for its size.
When it comes to eating here, you’ve got a few options. The hotel lays on a buffet spread for breakfast, featuring cereals, fruits and pastries, as well as a different cooked dish every day. Make the five-minute walk into Lagos town, meanwhile, and you’ll find a host of restaurants and cafés.
Last but not least, the hotel runs a courtesy bus to and from the local beach, so you don’t have to worry about walking or getting a taxi.
