Nestled into a hillside covered with olive trees, Nikos Villa looks every bit a Greek island retreat. For a start, it has a stone and whitewashed exterior, and bottle-green shutters. Then its gardens are filled with trees and leafy shrubs. And finally, it has a sandstone terrace with table, chairs, a parasol and rectangular pool.

Inside, the air-conditioned villa is effortless chic with a large open plan front room. The kitchen, meanwhile, has all the small appliances you’d expect, including a big fridge/freezer and a four-seater wooden dining table. This bright and welcoming vibe continues in the double and twin bedrooms. The double, for example, has a wrought-iron bed, cool white linen and matching bedside tables.

It’s easy to reach Magazia from the villa, where you’ll find a mini-market, a couple of tavernas and a bar. There’s also a bakery for fresh bread. Plus, if you want to explore Gaios or Lakka, they’re a ten-minute drive away. And the road that links both spots to Magazia passes through the village.
