This west coast hotel has spectacular views, a choice of pools and a beautiful white-sand beach on the doorstep.

Set on a hillside, looking out over the Gulf of Alghero, the Hotel Punta Negra has been designed to make the most of its fantastic views. The main swimming pool has the best vistas, over the bay towards Alghero. It’s surrounded by a large sun terrace, which is laid out with plenty of loungers and parasols. A second, slightly smaller pool also has sea views. It’s an infinity number, with one edge cascading over the hillside. There’s also an al fresco bar, which serves drinks and snacks throughout the day. A short flight of steps leads down to a small, white-sand beach.

Meals are usually served in the restaurant. Breakfast is an American-style buffet, while lunch and dinner feature typical Italian recipes, as well as Catalan-inspired meat and fish dishes. The hotel occasionally organises traditional dinners, where food is cooked on a wood barbecue and served on the terrace.

Bedrooms are spacious and modern, and decorated in a palette of soft pastel colours. Some come with sea views, while others have views of the pine forest behind the hotel.

The small town of Fertilia is a 10-minute walk away. From here, you can catch local buses to Alghero and other nearby towns.
