Disney's Polynesian Resort details
Close to a lakeside beach, this tropical-themed resort combines South Sea style with top-class facilities.
The first thing you’ll notice about this place is its surroundings. Coconut palms, glossy plants and cascading pools frame every building. And the tropical touches extend right down to a white sand beach on the lakeside.
The hotel’s design mirrors the paradise-like scene around it. The whole place is laid out in wooden buildings and, inside, the décor has a South Pacific vibe. Think tribal drums, wicker furniture and chunky pots in olive greens and earthy browns.
Outside, walkways and bridges lead to the main attraction – the lagoon pool. It weaves around a huge volcano that erupts cascades of water. Factor in a waterslide and sun terraces and you’ve got the perfect chill-out zone. Elsewhere, meanwhile, there are canoe rides, bikes for hire and a kids’ club to keep the little ones entertained in the evenings.
When it comes to food, think American with a South Sea twist. At the Kona Café, prime ribs and noodles top the menu, while at the ‘Ohana, it’s all about tropical breakfasts in the company of Disney’s Lilo and Stitch. And make sure you book Disney's Spirit of Aloha dinner show. With grass-skirt dancing and traditional music, it’s a Hawaiian feast to remember.
As for the rooms, they’re airy and spacious, with bamboo and rattan furniture evoking the Polynesian theme. Plus, you get accessories like satellite TVs, coffee-makers and mini-fridges. And for something special, you can opt for ones with balconies and lake views.
Lastly, the location of this place is really convenient for the Walt Disney World. You’re close to the monorail that’ll take you to Magic Kingdom, and it’s just a short bus ride to most of the other parks.
