Serving up old-world Italian charm with a modern edge, the Hotel Alpha makes a stylish base.
Hidden away in the quiet Sant’ Agnello part of town, this hotel offers up a mix of classic and contemporary. The accommodation is split between a 19th-century villa and a modern main building, and it’s all threaded together by sweet-smelling orange and grapefruit trees, manicured lawns and flowering shrubs. What’s more, Sorrento proper is just a five-minute bus journey away, and pretty Marinella beach is even closer.
Outside, you’ll find a classic rectangular pool at the heart of things. Fringed by shady palms and a wide sun terrace, it’s a top spot to relax. There’s a poolside bar, too, and a separate splash area for the kids. Head inside, meanwhile, and a classic Mediterranean scene greets you. We’re talking pretty painted tile floors, carved wooden furniture and a soft cream colour scheme. Bedrooms are spacious, with high ceilings and private balconies, while modern touches like plasma TVs and air-conditioning keep things up-to-date.
Last but not least, there’s the dining scene to consider - and that’s an area where the Hotel Alpha really excels. Its recently refurbished restaurant prides itself on its homemade pasta and rich desserts. There is a weekly Neapolitan evening and a lavish gala dinner, too.

All rooms have air-conditioning mid-Jun to mid-Sep for 10 hrs per day, flatscreen TV, hairdryer, dial-up internet connection, Wi-Fi, minibar, bathroom and balcony. Standard rooms sleep up to 3 adults with twin beds and an extra bed. These rooms are located in either the main building or the annexe, which is attached to the main building by indoor and outdoor walkways. Comfort rooms with facilities as per Standard rooms, with a garden view, and that are located in the main building, are also available at a supplement.
