It’s all about location at this historical 19thcentury villa in the heart of Sorrento.

The Hotel Antiche Mura is tucked just behind Sorrento’s main square, Piazza Tasso, with boutiques and trattorias on the doorstep. Sorrento’s bus and train stations are just 5 minutes’ walk away, and the harbour is less than 10, so daytrips to Naples, Capri and the towns along the Amalfi Coast are easy.

The villa’s décor is in keeping with its 19th-century roots. In the lobby, you’ll find chandeliers, traditional wooden furniture and bottle-green leather sofas. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, and some come with French windows and balconies or terraces. 

Outside, you’ll find a good-sized pool surrounded by well-kept lawns and citrus trees. The whole area overlooks the lush Valley of the Mills, and the remains of the ancient town walls. There are loungers and parasols for relaxing in the sun, and a poolside snack bar serving Italian classics like Caprese salads and Margherita pizzas.
Each morning, an American-style buffet breakfast is served in the bright and airy dining room. The menu includes eggs, bacon, fruit, and pastries, as well as Champagne and freshly squeezed juice from the orange trees in the garden.
