A central Sorrento location and self-catering facilities are the standout features of these contemporary suites.

These modern, spacious suites are one of the few self-catering options available along this part of the Neapolitan Riviera. Apartments are spacious and simply decorated, with whitewashed walls, tiled floors and contemporary furnishings. In each one, a compact oak kitchenette is tucked into the open-plan living-dining room, while the bathroom and bedrooms are hidden discreetly behind sliding doors. All apartments have balconies with a table and chairs for al fresco dining.

There’s a supermarket a couple of minutes’ walk away, where you can stock up on fresh Italian ingredients and local wine. The cafés and trattorias in Piazzo Lauro are just 2 minutes’ walk away, and the main square, Piazza Tasso, is a further 10 minutes on foot. The train and bus stations are close by, too, so daytrips to Naples, Pompeii and the rest of the Amalfi Coast are easy. The harbour, from where you can catch boats across to Capri, is a 10-15 minute walk away – just bear in mind that there are steep steps to reach it.

Although there isn’t a pool at the Rota Suites, guests can make the most of the clifftop pool and private beach at the Hotel Grand Riviera, 5 minutes’ walk away.
