If you want to explore Sorrento, you couldn’t ask to be in a better spot. The Hotel Astoria is set in the heart of town, surrounded by winding alleyways and just a few minutes’ walk from the Piazza Tasso, and its cafés, trattorias and shops.

As for the property itself, it’s classically Italian – picture cobbled walls and black wrought-iron balconies spilling over with blooms. Inside, the rooms are dressed in cheerful yellows, with marble floors and traditional paintings adorning the walls. Mod-cons, meanwhile, come in the form of LCD TVs, minibars and balconies.

Elsewhere, you’ll find a terrace dotted with loungers – it’s perfect for a bit of sunbathing. There’s also a garden in the grounds, with tidy circular flower beds and leafy bushes. Plus, you’ll find little seating areas out here, so it’s a lovely space to sit with a drink in the evenings.
